Dr. William D. Troutt

Dr. William D. TrouttLet me introduce you to our Director of Medical Education at Harvest. His name is Dr. William D. Troutt. He’s a naturopathic doctor with decades of experience who has made it his business to understand the medical use of cannabis.

Although Harvest began in 2013, Dr. Troutt’s experience goes way back. He has been studying the medicinal uses of cannabis for over three decades and has worked exclusively in the cannabis industry since 2010.

With so many years of experience, it should not surprise you to learn that he has consulted with thousand of patients, providing him a wealth of hands-on experience and wisdom you can’t find just anywhere. Again, this is not just serious medical knowledge. It is medical knowledge specific to the use of cannabis to improve your health and wellness.

He still keeps it real and down to earth. He hasn’t let his lofty status as Director of Medical Education for all of Harvest to trap him in an ivory tower. Instead, he also serves as the Medical Director for nine of our cannabis dispensaries in Arizona.

In fact, he was the first medical director of a state-licensed medical cannabis establishment in the state of Arizona. He has also made it his personal responsibility to make sure all of our employees are adequately trained with pertinent knowledge for this important emerging industry.

Because it is still an emerging industry, he personally creates both educational materials and training protocols. He does this not only for our employees, but also for our patients, customers and their caregivers.

Furthermore, he routinely provides informal lectures and hosts discussions on the varieties of cannabis and their uses. Topics range from therapy for inflammation and aging seniors to epilepsy, seizure disorders, cancer and chronic pain.

He remains involved with scientific research to ensure that his knowledge is as up to date as possible. He co-founded the Medical Marijuana Research Institute and has published studies on the medical use of cannabis.

His formal post-secondary education began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Arizona State University. He graduated magna cum laude in 1999. He went on to complete a degree from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004 specializing in natural and botanical medicines.

For Dr. Trout, this is not just a job, it’s a mission. His mission is to further community health through improving both cannabis education and marijuana treatment.
